Dr. Mashitoh Yaacob obtained B.A. (Hons) in Social Sciences and Humanities from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (1995), M.Env.Mngt. in Environmental Management from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (1996) and Ph.D in Environmental Philosophy from The University of Waikato, New Zealand (2009). She is currently, an Associate Professor at Pusat Citra Universiti, and Deputy Director and Senior Research Fellow at Institute of Islam Hadhari Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). She was the Head of Quality Management at Center for General Studies (2007-2010); Head of Quality Assurance at Institute of Islam Hadhari (2012-2013); and Deputy Director of Planning and Quality Enhancement at Centre for Quality Assurance (2014-2017) of the university. Dr. Mashitoh Yaacob has been involved in the field of Environmental Philosophy since 2002. Her main contributions are in Islamic environmental ethics; environmentally ethical behavior; ethics of consumption; and education for sustainable development. She is currently teaches and supervises students on and related to the areas of Environmental Philosophy, Islamic Civilization, and Environmental Ethics. Her major research efforts include topics such as Islamic Environmental Ethics: Addressing the Phenomenon of Consumer Culture in Malaysia; Muslim Environmentally Ethical Behavior (EEB) Model based on Islamic Ethical Values; Informal Recycling Activities; The Transformation of Muslim Malay Behavior towards Environmental Sustainability based on Islamic Values; The Adaptation of Instrument for Measuring the Influence of Contextual Aspects on Malaysian Muslim's Environmentally Ethical Behavior (EEB); Transformation in Environmental Concern: From Policy to Society-Driven; Exploring the Phenomenon of Consumer Society or Consumer Culture in Relation with Consumption Ethics; and Social Indicators for Halal Vaccine Certification. Additionally, she is an Editorial Board Member of Jurnal Hadhari: An International Journal since 2016. She has authored and co-authored more than 100 articles in journals, books, proceedings, and seminars in the field of environmental philosophy. She has been appointed as a Member of Integrated Cumulative Grade Point Average (iCGPA) Technical Committee at Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia from 2015-2018. She is also a Life Member of Environmental Management Society (EMS) since 2007. She was selected as a Delegate of Malaysian Rotary Group Study Exchange (GSE) Program to Switzerland in 2010.

Has a Ph.D., in MIS from the US (1991), in Artificial Intelligence – Expert Systems, upon which he received National Research Distinction Award from Canada. He is associate professor at the Lebanese University, he was MENA region representative for University of California Master’s degree program in Knowledge Management. He presented many papers at regional and international conferences related to ICT, SME's, QMS, and City Development from the national sustainable development perspective.

Since 1998 till now he played several advisory roles, namely; to the Prime Minister Saad Hariri, the minister of education, the Arab Science and Technology Foundation (Sharjah, UAE), the minister of Administrative Reform, and to the Director General of the Lebanese National Research Council, in the domain of S&T potential.

He has almost 30 years of experience in training and consulting on strategy development and E-government initiatives across the Arab countries. He is amongst the early bird lead trainers and consultants (since 1993) in the Arab Countries on the Implementation of the Balanced Scorecard Methodology, he discussed his critiques of the methodology with its inventors Dr. David Norton and Robert Kaplan.

He was the first mayor elected in the history of Tripoli with anonymous political leaders' consent (2010), he presided several international committees of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) organization worldwide. He was elected the Vice President of the Political Council of EuroMed Cities. He represented and delivered the Keynote speech of the secretary general of UCLG in the World Water Forum in the opening session, in South Korea 2015. In 2017, he co-launched the initiative “Tripoli – the Economy Capital of Lebanon”.
